Q. Why do I need a Sea or Amphibious Survival Pack?
A. Because commercially available liferaft and hired liferaft do not contain such
essential equipment and survival information.
Q. Do you supply emergency rations and water sachets?
A. Yes. As well as having 72hrs (for one person) of hermetically sealed high
energy rations and water sachets in each of our Sea Survival Packs, we also
supply these as separate items.
Q. If I have some survival bits and a fishing kit in my life raft, can't I make do?
A. Possibly, but our Sea Survival and Amphibious Survival Packs are designed
not just to make do, but to greatly increase your and your family's or crews
chances of survival in a hostile environment, as well as to increase the
likelihood of your being spotted and rescued. The contents of our packs have
multiple uses and waterproofed instructions on how to use them.
Q. I can buy survival books, so why should I buy a sailingunlimited Survival
Pack?
A. The authors of such books might have attended some of the exact same
survival courses, but by no means all, as the author of the sailingunlimited
survival instruction manuals. However, the sailingunlimited survival instruction
manuals are printed on waterproof paper and are, more importantly, specific to
prolonged survival in a liferaft at sea and survival on sea coasts.
Q. Will the survival packs fit into a liferaft?
A. Yes. We encourage our customers to have them placed in their liferaft when
they are next serviced and we urge our customers to be present at the time.
Q. My liferaft service isn't due for months, what do I do?
A. The Sea Survival and Amphibious Survival Packs are supplied with a dry
bag which can be used as a grab bag (also known as a panic bag or ditch bag).
Q. I've got my own grab bag formed, can I get some money off if I don't have
your dry bag?
A. No. The dry bag is an essential part of the survival pack with many possible
uses in a liferaft at sea; including forming part of an emergency solar still.
Q. How do I make a solar still from a dry bag?
A. The instructions on how to do this plus the uses of all of the survival
equipment, how to extend the life of your liferaft and how the survival
equipment can increase your chances of being spotted, are all included in our
survival packs in the form of a waterproof survival instruction manual.
Q. I've done an RYA sea survival course, why do I need one of your packs?
A. These courses are good and we suggest that all skippers attend one and
take their families with them!
However, they focus upon activating and getting into a liferaft.
Our packs contain instructions and equipment that are essential for survivors
after they have activated their liferaft and are then facing hours or days or
longer at sea in that liferaft.
Q. Why can't I go and buy the equipment to make my own pack?
A. Of course there's nothing to stop you, but some essential survival items in
our packs are not available in High Street outlets.
Plus, instead of having our pack(s) posted to your home or yacht, you would
incur travel / parking expenses and pay high prices for the individual items;
where you could get them.
On top of that, you would not have the benefit of the survival information,
emergency rations and water sachets that come with our packs.
Q. How are your survival packs sealed?
A. Hermetically in durable waterproof bags. Once the bags are opened, they
can be resealed by means of an internal plastic sealing rail; so you could read
the survival instructions and become familiar with using the survival items
before ever setting sail.
