| Sailingunlimited skippers use small size dry-bags as their panic bags or grab bags. This is because the contents are kept dry during transfer to liferaft and because the bags float! The bags are easy to stow / retrieve. Among other things, they can be used to collect rainwater when living in the raft or as a bedpan when you are forced to relieve yourself. Such as in rough weather, when you are injured / weak or visited by sharks. We attach slings to our grab bags and protect the items within by placing them in resealable polythene bags. In addition to the grab bags carried on board our yachts, Amphibious Survival Packs are secured in our liferaft's. Grab bag items are separate from yachts' inventory and remain as dedicated equipment for abandoning ship. They are not "borrowed" for any reason. In addition, sailingunlimited skippers keep in their cockpit or on deck, two containers 3/4 full of water (so they float) purely for abandoning ship. We keep separate containers of water to cater for any main water tank contamination problems. Have a look at what we place in our grab bags: GRAB BAG CONTENTS |
